The Grit Guard Insert was invented by a gentleman named Doug Lamb. At one time Doug had a beautiful red Ferrari that he would hand-wash at home. A recurring problem Doug experienced was dirt and grit contaminating his wash water, then transferring to his wash mitt, and eventually being introduced back into the paint on his red Ferrari, causing swirl-marks and scratches. The Grit Guard Insert is ingeniously designed. It sits at the bottom of any standard 3.5, 4, 5, or 6 gallon bucket. The inserts radial surface design extracts particles such as dirt, grit and grime from your wash mitt, providing a clean, scratch-free wash mitt every time you go back to the bucket for water.
